OGDEN -- A man brawled with a burglar he surprised when he went home to check on his sick dog, police said.
The burglary occurred at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday at a home on 500 block of Douglas Avenue, Lt. Kevin Cottrell said.
The homeowner came from work to check on his sick dog when he discovered two men had broken into his house.
The man got in a struggle with one of the burglars while the other fled on foot, Cottrell said. After the fight, the second man fled in a vehicle as the resident called police.
Officers arrested Nicholas Martin Hendrickson, 31, whom they believe was the man who fled on foot. He was booked into Weber County Jail for suspicion of robbery on a $10,000 bail.
The other suspect is still at large.
The resident suffered minor injuries from the brawl. Several items of jewelry were taken from the home, Cottrell said.
