OGDEN -- The man accused of attempting to hijack a Utah Transit Authority bus in Ogden pleaded guilty Wednesday.

Trace Edward Green, 40, was arrested in September for approaching the driver of the bus and attempting to take control of it. At one point, Green discharged a fire extinguisher at the driver, who fought off Green after evacuating the passengers from the bus.

Green was charged with a second-degree felony count of assault with intent to hijack a bus. He pleaded guilty in 2nd District Court in Ogden, in front of Judge Ernie Jones.

Sentencing for Green was scheduled for December 11. He faces 1 to 15 years in prison.

A successful hijacking of a bus is a first-degree felony and could come with a sentence of life in prison.
