ST. GEORGE -- Authorities are looking for a person who shot an Arizona probation officer in the leg early Tuesday in southern Utah.
It happened at about 6:20 a.m., St. George police said. The male officer from Mohave County was shot in the upper leg and was taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George.
His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, officials said.
The suspect was described as 6 feet tall with a slender build, but authorities say it's unclear whether the shooter was a man or woman. The suspect was wearing a black hoodie, black pants and a white hockey mask. Officials haven't said whether the person was on probation or parole.
Police Sgt. Sam Despain said it's not unusual for an Arizona probation officer to be in St. George because the cities are so close. St. George is in Utah's southwest corner, about 10 miles north of the Arizona border.
