Public invited to hear talk on Ogden United Promise Neighborhood project

WASHINGTON TERRACE -- The Weber County League of Women Voters will have their next meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at the Pleasant Valley Library, 5568 S. Adams Ave., Washington Terrace.

The speaker is Azenett Garza, coordinator for Community Research Extension for Weber State University. She is the director of the Ogden United Promise Neighborhood project and will talk about the program.

According to a news release from the organization, Ogden is gathering statistics and will apply for a $35 million grant next year based on this information to implement the program. This project fosters neighborhood development and education to improve the perception and quality of the educational and community systems in the area. Together the neighborhood will improve the school system and increase involvement, the release states.
