WEST JORDAN -- A longtime Utah school bus driver is being mourned after he was killed in a crash with a tractor-trailer that authorities say lost its brakes.
Authorities identified the driver as 55-year-old Stan Riley of Kearns.
Jordan school Superintendent Patrice Johnson says Riley was well-respected, took great pride in his job and loved the students he served.
Riley had dropped off a group of elementary school students Friday afternoon when the empty bus was hit by a truck that authorities say ran a red light.
The bus also crashed into a garbage truck.
West Valley police Sgt. Dan Roberts says the truck driver reported his brakes failed, and investigators didn't find skid marks at the scene.
No one else was reported to have been injured in the crash.
