Gerald and Georgia Mikesell celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their family, enjoying dinner, cake and reminiscing at their home in Porterville.
They were married on Nov. 18, 1953, in Morgan. Their vows were solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple on June 2, 1965.
He was born in Porterville to Sam and Virginia Johnson Mikesell on Feb. 13, 1933. He was raised on a farm, was active in school committees, played sports in school and church, and enjoyed playing his guitar and singing. He served in many church and civic positions, all of which he says he loved and remembers fondly. He worked at Ideal Cement Co. for 45 years, retiring in 1995.
They were called on a mission to Martin's Cove, as Ogden Temple workers and stake missionaries.
She was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to William and LeEttia Price on Nov. 10, 1935. She was an avid member of the Business and Professional Women's Club and served in many positions. She served in many church and civic positions. She worked in many positions, eventually retiring from Roger's Foods in 1995. She has taken care of many elderly people throughout her life. She enjoys cooking.
They say their greatest joy is spending time with their family. Their children and their spouses are Rosemary and Glenn Eberle, Eugene and Julie Mikesell, and Tom Mikesell.
They also have seven grandchildren (one deceased), 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
