CEDAR CITY -- Kyren Poe had a game-tying touchdown pass in the fourth quarter and Northern Arizona added a field goal and defensive touchdown to defeat Southern Utah 20-10 on Saturday and win the Grand Canyon Trophy.
Northern Arizona (9-2, 7-1 Big Sky Conference) trailed the Thunderbirds (8-4, 5-3) 10-0 in the third quarter before scoring 20 unanswered points.
Andy Wilder's 29-yard field goal got the Lumberjacks on the board in the third, and Poe found Nick Cole for a 25-yard touchdown with 8:40 left in the fourth quarter to even the score.
An interception by Austin Hasquet on Southern Utah's next possession helped set up Wilder's second field goal from 20 yards to put the Lumberjacks up 13-10.
Blair Wishom sealed the win for Northern Arizona with Southern Utah driving late in the fourth, intercepting an Aaron Cantu pass and returning it 52 yards for a touchdown.
* MONTANA 28, MONTANA STATE 14: At Bozeman, Mont., Jordan Canada rushed for two touchdowns and Jordan Johnson passed for another as Montana handled Montana State in the 113th meeting between these bitter rivals.
The Grizzlies (10-2, 6-2 Big Sky) held MSU to just 277 total yards. The Bobcats (7-5, 5-3) took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on Shawn Johnson's 82-yard punt return, but were unable to move the ball consistently until the fourth quarter.
* EASTERN WASHINGTON 42, PORTLAND STATE 41: At Cheney, Wash., Vernon Adams' fifth touchdown pass with 31 seconds to play lifted Eastern Washington to a wild win over Portland State.
The Vikings (6-6, 3-5 Big Sky) had taken the lead on a Collin Ramierz pass to Victor Dean with a minute left but Marcus Kinsella missed the extra point.
Adams and the Eagles (10-2, 8-0) set a host of records in becoming the first team other than Montana to win an outright Big Sky title since EWU's 1997 title.
Adams set the conference record for TD passes (46) and the school record for passing yards (4,059) and total offense (4,550). EWU scored the first TD but never led again until the final point.
* CAL POLY 42, NORTHERN COLORADO 14: At Greeley, Colo., Chris Brown amassed 230 yards and scored three touchdowns as Cal Poly overwhelmed Northern Colorado.
Cal Poly (6-6, 5-3 Big Sky Conference) opened up a 21-0 lead in the second quarter as Brown hit Akaninyene Umoh on a 16-yard scoring strike, Umoh ran another in from the 3 and Brown passed to Austin Ablison for another score.
Seth Lobato threw for 206 yards for Northern Colorado (1-11, 0-8), which lost its eleventh consecutive game.
* WYOMING 59, HAWAII 56 (OT): At Laramie, Wyo., Stuart Williams kicked a 36-yard game-winning field goal and Brett Smith passed for a single-game school record seven touchdowns in leading Wyoming (5-6, 3-4 Mountain West) to a overtime win against Hawaii (0-11, 0-8).
