FARMINGTON -- A jury is expected to be selected Wednesday to hear testimony in a case of a woman charged with felony child abuse.
The trial for Sandra Flores, 25, is scheduled to run through Friday before Judge John Morris.
Flores was arrested and booked in Davis County Jail in July 2011. She was released after posting $20,000 bail. The case was filed after Layton police finished an investigation.
Flores had taken a 3-year-old girl to the emergency room at Davis Hospital and Medical Center on July 5, 2011. She told investigators the toddler fell off the toilet and hit her head.
Flores was living in an apartment with the girl's mother and cared for the toddler when the woman was at work. In exchange, the girl's mother watched Flores' child when Flores was at work.
At a preliminary hearing Jan. 20, 2012, a University of Utah Medical Center doctor said the girl's head injuries were not consistent with those of a child falling off a toilet.
