CLINTON -- A young girl was killed following a traffic accident Wednesday afternoon.
The 3-year-old girl, whose name has not yet been released, died at the scene of the accident at about 1800 N. 1000 W. in Clinton at about 1 p.m., Clinton Police Lt. Dave Valentine said.
The girl and her family were traveling eastbound on 1800 N. in a red Pontiac Grand Am, when it reportedly veered off its lane and struck a white Dodge Durango head-on, Valentine said.
Both drivers were transported to the hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries, he said. Another child in the Grand Am was also transported to the hospital.
As of about 5 p.m., the scene was still blocked off for an investigation. It is unknown if the girl was wearing a seat belt and what caused the vehicle to leave its lane. No charges have been filed as of yet.
