I write this letter every year, hoping to get through to at least one animal owner who keeps their dogs on chains or in small runs during these freezing temperatures. Do you really think they don't get cold, feel pain and long for warmth and companionship? They will suffer long-lasting effects from prolonged neglect. I ask, why have a pet if they are not part of your family?
Turn them over to the Humane Society so they have a chance at a good life with someone who will give them the care and attention they deserve. Life on a chain or in a kennel away from the house, away from the people who should love and care for them is no life at all. Bring them in or let them go. If you do not care about them, then at least do not harm them.
