I took the opportunity to attend the Weber County Commissioners meeting on Dec. 17. There were many items on the agenda and I found the commissioners were efficient and professional as they went through and discussed each item.
Commissioner Kerry Gibson, chairman, was knowledgeable of all items and knew the reason and background of each. The residents of Weber County are well represented and should be proud of the quality of the commissioners who represent and serve our county.
I applaud the efforts of Commissioner Gibson in pursuing a sporting gun range for the many sportsmen and women throughout our county. I have lived in Weber County my entire life and have watched it grow and change from agricultural to cities with subdivisions and businesses and black top. That growth has seen ordinances passed to stop the shooting of firearms within the city limits, which I agree needed to happen.
Those of us who enjoy shooting have now been forced to drive long distances or give up the sport. Weber County needs a "safe" and environmentally friendly gun range where we can go and enjoy this sport.
I have watched my tax dollars go to support hiking trails, bicycle paths, etc., all of which are good for our citizens. A well maintained, professional gun range will enhance this county with another sport to enjoy.
