Saturday night at the Summit Hotel in Ogden, 155-pound mixed martial arts professionals Patrick Reeves and Gabe Francis meet in the main event. The fight is a rematch of a 2011 bout between the two, won by Francis due to cuts suffered by Reeves.
Both Reeves and Francis are Ogden fighters. The former sees pressure as a key to winning the rematch. "I need to pressure the whole time, take it very seriously and not even play a little. (The goal is to) not get touched even once and go at him like it's my last fight," he said.
The semi-main matches Ogden 170-pounder MMA pro, Justin Roberts, against Michael Dillard, who fights out of Logan. It will be Roberts' first bout in slightly over a year.
" I have tried to increase my cardio a lot over the year. Other than that, lots of wrestling. I love wrestling,"said Roberts, who adds that he sees MMA as one way to push his body to its limits, and then even go further.
Other local fighters on the card include Thomas Hughes, Brandon Rease, Brandon Beach, Eti Palu, Braeden Killpack and Isaiah Salazar, the son of the promoter, who shares the same name.
Hughes fights Christian Ritter, Rease fights Mateo Wilson, Beach meets Sterling Johnston, Paul fights Adrian Ramos, Killpack meets Manuel Alvarez, Salazar fights Chris Delgado. Other bouts match Joel Haro and Connor Jones, Jamison Lewis and Jared Toothaker, Geovanni Avilanez and Corey Lake, and Dan Pacette versus Brad Grimes.
The doors open Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Summit, at 247 24th Street.
