SALT LAKE CITY — One of the runways at the Salt Lake International Airport has been reopened 2 and a-half hours after officials shut down flight operations because of slippery conditions that caused a cargo plane to lose traction on a taxiway.

Airport spokeswoman Barbara Gann says crews got one of three runways de-iced for takeoffs and landings.

A number of flights were canceled or diverted to other Utah airports during the shutdown.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the Boeing 757 cargo plane landed safely before sliding momentarily on the taxiway. Nobody was injured and the plane wasn't damaged.

The airport in Salt Lake had received 3 and a-half inches of snow by midmorning after a freezing rain. Several more inches of snow were expected Thursday.
