Marie Fowles passed away peacefully from organ failure caused by infection on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the age of 77.
Marie was born November 22, 1936, the oldest of 4 children, to Melvin and Elaine Rose Burbank in Bear River City, Utah. She attended schools in Collinston, Deweyville, and Bear River High School. She married the love of her life, Derlin J Fowles, on May 20, 1954, in Preston, Idaho. They were married for 59 1/2 years and, during that time, raised their four boys to stay close to each other and raise their kids together, too.
Marie lovingly supported Derlin in all of his business endeavors. She handled his bookkeeping, scheduling, accounts receivable, and the phone throughout his working years. They made a great team.
Marie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was also a member of the Ogden Boat Club, and past member of the Golden Spike Snowmobile Association and High-Rollers Club. She enjoyed snowmobiling and camping, and she loved traveling.Marie relished summers in Donnelly, Idaho and Homer and Valdez, Alaska, enjoying the cool summer weather with good friends. She’d been traveling to Quartzsite, AZ in the winter for 28 years, especially loving when her children and grandchildren came to visit and feel the sunshine during the winter months.
Marie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved her kids unconditionally, and was a mom to all her boys’ friends and grandma to all their kids, too.Her joys were her kids and grandkids. Her grandchildren went to her house as cousins and left as best friends.
Marie had a special gift of making everyone feel welcome and comfortable, and no one ever left her house hungry. She was always snapping pictures, with a disposable camera - not just of special events, but everyday life – and her photo albums are treasured by all her family and friends.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin & Elaine Burbank, her step-mother, Cora Hendrickson Burbank, her sister Janice Burbank King Adair and her brother Mel Burbank Jr.She is survived by her husband, Derlin Fowles, brother, Warren Burbank, four children, Mike (Vickie) Fowles, Dave (Kim) Fowles, Doug (Sue) Fowles, Marv (Dina) Fowles, 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one more on the way.

(Marie wouldn’t want you to leave hungry!)Grandkids will speak at 1:00pm and everyone is welcome.
Cremation was provided by Palm Eastern Mortuary in Las Vegas, Nevada.Derlin says, “She tipped the helicopter driver 100 bucks to take her to Vegas instead of Phoenix.”In lieu of flowers, please hug your grandchildren and donate to the University of Utah School of Medicine for Research on her behalf.
Words cannot express Marie’s family’s loss – no time would ever be a good time to let her go – she is missed.
