WASATCH MOUNTAIN STATE PARK: Snowmobile Safety Week is Jan. 18-26. To celebrate, Utah State Parks is hosting a snowmobile open house on Jan. 11, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Soldier Hollow Club House at Wasatch Mountain State Park. Youth ages 8 to 15 are invited to take free youth snowmobile education course from 9 to 11 a.m., or noon to 2 p.m. Course topics include safe riding techniques, proper machine handling and rider ethics. Snowmobiles not needed for course.
Utah law requires youth ages 8-15 to complete Utah State Parks snowmobile education course before operating on public lands, roads or trails. Utah Avalanche Center staff will offer a free avalanche safety course from 11 a.m. to noon. Course is free and open to everyone.
