ST. GEORGE — Boom times are back for St. George, the redrock southern Utah town known for mild winters and easy access to national parks.
The Spectrum reports that job and wage growth and construction took off last year around the town of 75,000.
The region's unemployment is at its lowest level since before the Great Recession. The foreclosure market has nearly disappeared.
City officials issued more than 1,300 building permits in the first 11 months of 2013 — nearly 300 more than issued for all of the year before.
Washington County's unemployment rate was the lowest in November since the economy tanked in 2008, at 4.6 percent.
