OGDEN -- Undefeated cruiserweight boxer Jesse West is now 3-0 after scoring a hard-fought four-round decision over Elmer Rivera in one of the featured bouts Saturday night in Ogden at the Summit Hotel.

Before a packed crowd, West, of Fruit Heights, had to fend off the charging Rivera, of Mesquite, Nevada, who was very aggressive. However, the former Golden Gloves champ was able to create space between his opponent enough times to score effectively and earn the unanimous decision.

In another featured bout, Francisco Jelel Lopez scored a four unanimous decision over Lee Tibbitts. Both Salt Lake City lightweights had their moments, but Lopez scored more often and punched harder than Tibbitts, who would often switch from a right- to left-handed boxing stance.

In a preliminary pro bout, junior lightweight Isaac Aguilar used strong conditioning and speed to take a four-round decision over aggressive but slower-punching  Shanatu Hogue. Both boxers are from Salt Lake City.

The card also included nine amateur fights. In a close, competitive contest between two Ogden 95-pounders, Zandar Caffall. of Foley's gym, took the decision over Santana DeCarlo, of All Heart Boxing. Both boxers fought well, with DeCarlo more aggressive and Caffall counter punching.

In the bout deemed "fight of the night," Bladimir Estrada, City Center, defeated Marco Alvarez, of Ogden's Marshall White Center. Both 165-pound fighters swapped hard punches through three rounds.

In a 65-pound bout, Yahir Estrada, of City Center gym, won a competitive bout over Preston Tiffany, of Foley's gym.

Jesus Saldana, of Foley's gym, outboxed Eric Nikimbuna, State Street gym, in a bout between 125-pound boxers. In a female match, Logan's Jaimee Pope, of Alpha Team, outslugged a game Monica Sustaita, of Roy's Team Villastrigo, over three rounds to earn the win.

Jaden Lopez, a 75-pounder who fights out of Marshall White Center, took a decision over Mehki Benn, of State Street Boxing.

Mateo Holt, State Street Boxing, decisioned Noa Prieto, of Team Villastrigo, 98 pounds; Eathen Zumbriskie, of Orem, outscored Kacey Raddom, Layton, 175 pounds; and Danny Galloway, Salt Lake City, stopped Adam Eazily, of Layton, in round 2.

The promoters were Total Mayhem and All Heart Boxing Foundation. Pro boxer Tibbitts donated his entire purse to All Heart Boxing Foundation. The promoters plan future pro/am boxing cards on Feb. 28 and May 10.
