Kent and Kathy Lowe Archibald celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family gathering on Dec. 27.
The couple met at the Institute of Religion at Weber State University, and they were married on Dec. 6, 1963, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple.
They have made their home in Salt Lake City; Lakewood and Ventura, Calif.; Riverdale and South Ogden. They have one son and four daughters.
He graduated from North Cache High School and served in the Gulf States Mission. He later graduated from WSU and the University of Utah with a Master of Social Work degree. He worked for the California Youth Authority in Whittier and Camarillo, and Utah Adult Probation and Parole. He retired in 1999.
She graduated from Ben Lomond High School. After their marriage, she enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom for many years. She later returned to WSU and obtained a Master of Education degree. She taught school for the Weber School District for 20 years.
They have served in many callings in the LDS Church. They served a mission to the Oakland Temple Visitors’ Center for 18 months. He also served in the capacity of bishop. Both served in the Ogden Temple before its closing.
Their children and spouses are Shari and Bill Nielsen, Debbie Anderson, Lisa and John Wood, Allen and Shannon Archibald, and Heather and Daniel Cloward. They have 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
