On Jan. 20, Lagrande and Beverly Belnap celebrated 70 years of marriage with their children by attending The Church of Jesus of Latter-day Saints Bountiful Temple, followed by dinner. Family and friends may attend an open house in their honor from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 8 at the church located at 5000 S. 5900 West, Hooper. No gifts.
They were married Jan. 25, 1944, in Lima, Mont. Their vows were solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Sept. 27, 1944.
He was born in Idaho and moved to Hooper, where he has resided for 81 years. He graduated from Weber High School.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from Williams International in 1991.
His interests include community service, sharing his garden produce with others, riding his bike, making his daily “check up calls,”watching sports and especially watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate.
She was born in Ogden and raised in Syracuse. She attended Davis High School.
She has been a mother and homemaker. She retired from the Internal Revenue Service in 1992.
Her interests are spending time with her family, reading, music and gardening.
Active members of the LDS Church, they have served in many ward and stake callings. They served in the Texas Fort Worth LDS Mission and as ordinance workers in the Ogden LDS Temple.
Their children and their spouses are Dennis and Leann Belnap, Pat and Jerry Smith, Shauna and Kevin Hansen, Kathleen and Robert Smith, Kevin Belnap (deceased), Gregg and Robin Belnap, and Jill Nelson.
They have 24 grandchildren and 63 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
