Francis Burnham

 Francis Nelson Burnham, 82, of North Ogden, passed away, Sunday, February 2, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born July 25, 1931 in Jerome, Idaho, the son of Willard Perry and Margaret Nancy Millet Burnham.

Fran lived in Jerome, Idaho for the first 19 years of his life. He attended Jerome public schools, graduating from Jerome High School in 1950. He served his country in the United States Army from 1951-1953, serving in South Korea during the Korean War. After being released from the Army, he received a call and honorably fulfilled a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Japan, returning home in 1956. Fran met and fell in love with Alice Lindquist from Salt Lake City. Their courtship culminated in marriage, May 28, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. Their marriage was blessed with eight children. While attending the University of Utah he worked for Western Electric and Safeway in Salt Lake City. The Burnham family moved to North Ogden in 1961. Fran worked at Thiokol while attending Weber State College and then worked for several years at the Defense Depot in Ogden. His career with the United States Government took his family to Seoul, South Korea for 11 years. While living in Seoul he served as a Temple ordinance worker for six years. After retiring, he and Alice served a mission in Utica, New York. They also served as ordinance workers in the Ogden Temple. He loved serving in the Church and spending time with his family and traveling.

Fran is survived by his children, Kari (Craig) Fredrickson, Taylor, Utah; Brent (Michele) Burnham, Anthem, Arizona; Margaret (Clark) Wolverton, Palmer, Alaska; Brian (Brenda) Burnham, Eagar, Arizona; Bryce (Sharon) Burnham, Eagar, Arizona; Brad (Coni) Burnham, Salina, Utah, Heather (Bryce) Nielsen, Elk Ridge, Utah; Alison (Bryn) Rhodes, Orem, Utah; 39 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and sister-in-law, Nancy Burnham, Woodland, California.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Lindquist Burnham, parents, brothers, Lynn, George, Willard, Gene, Vosco, Maurice; sisters, Vina, Leora, Fay, and Virginia. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Hospice Care of Northern Utah for their loving care of Fran in the final stages of his life.

A Viewing will be held Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Lindquist North Ogden Mortuary from 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, North Ogden Stake Center, with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow the funeral services at the North Ogden Ben Lomond Cemetery.
