Jeanne Nagao, 81 passed away peacefully in her sleep January 31, 2014 in Salinas, CA. She was born December 20, 1932 in Madera, CA. She met and married Hiro in Ogden, Utah in 1952 and settled down in Honeyville, Utah where they lived for the next 20 years. The Nagao family moved to Fresno, CA in 1971 where they lived and worked until 2005 when both became ill and moved to Salinas, CA.
While raising four children, Jeanne worked in various government agencies but mostly enjoyed her work as a school teacher, after having earned her college degree at the age of 50. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hiro in 2006.
Survivors: four children (oldest to youngest): Gloria Gieg of Salinas, CA; Rex Nagao of Henderson, NV; Mike Nagao of Fresno, CA and Julie Thompson of Atascadero, CA; grandchildren (oldest to youngest): Hannah, Riley, Kate and Jack Thompson.
Also survived by: Martha Hirai (sister) of Mattawa, WA, Rose Uyematsu (sister) of Anaheim, CA and Frank Fujikawa (brother) of Chula Vista, CA.
Services will be held Friday, Feb 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Buddhist Temple 3945 W 6900 N Honeyville, Utah.
Interment will be in the Honeyville Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of Struve and Laporte Funneral Chapel in Salinas, CA and Myers Mortuary in Brigham City, UT.
