OREM -- Thousands are expected at a funeral Wednesday for a Utah deputy who was killed in a crime spree that also left another deputy wounded.
The service for 44-year-old Utah County Sheriff's Sgt. Cory Wride is scheduled for Wednesday at 11 a.m. on the Utah Valley University campus in Orem.
Wride was killed on Jan. 30 on a rural highway about 35 miles south of Salt Lake City. Wride had stopped to check on a truck with its emergency lights on when he was shot twice while seated in his patrol car.
Authorities believe he was shot by 27-year-old Jose Angel Garcia-Juaregui who later wounded another deputy, rammed into cars and pulled off a carjacking. He died after being hit in a gunfight with police that ended the 2 1/2 pursuit.
