Ruth lenore Thiessens Adams Meacham

Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, Ruth Lenore Thiessens Adams Meacham passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2014, in Provo, Utah. Ruth was born April 13, 1927, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Herman and Henrietta Thiessens.
Ruth was raised and attended schools in Salt Lake City and worked as an elevatoroperator in the Union Pacific Building where she met herhusband, Golden V. Adams. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 24, 1943, anddivorced in 1972. They lived at the Adams Family Farm in East Garland, Utah where they raised seven children. Ruth married Paul R. Meacham on August 8, 1983 in Elko, Nevada.
Ruth was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cove Point Branch. She worked at Hill Air Force Base until her retirement around 1985. She lived in Ogden, Utahuntil (due to failing health) she moved in with her eldest son, Golden Jr. Since March 2013 she lived at Cove Point Retirement Center in Provo where she enjoyed playing Bingo, Pinochle, and socializing with fellow residents. In her earlier years she enjoyed fishing, big game hunting, crafts, sewing, and associating with her many friends. Her graciousness, self-less service, positive outlook, strength, and incredible will, were an inspiration to her family and friends.
Surviving are five sons: Golden (Diane) Adams, Salem UT; Lloyd (Diane) Adams, Sarasota, FL; Stephen (Marsha) Adams, EastGarland, UT; LeMoyne (Allison) Adams, Layton, UT; Doyle Adams, St. George, UT; two daughters: Janice (Paul) Coover, Quilcene, WA; and Gloria Schneider, Sturgeon Bay, WI; one step-son: Michael (Debbi) Meacham, San Diego, CA; two sisters, Grace Lois Sheldon, Sandy, UT; Hilda Edney, Nebo, NC; 25 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Joseph Hyrum Thiessens, Folkert Teunis (Ted) Thiessens, Herman Hendrik (Hank) Thiessens, one son-in-law, Peter Schneider and one great-grandson, Ryan Steven Adams.
The family expresses their deep appreciation for the loving care provided by the staffs at Cove Point and Envision Hospice during her last days.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 7, 2014 at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah. Friends may call from 10-10:20 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery, 1000 North 1200 East, Logan, Utah.
