OGDEN -- A fire near 20th Street and Jackson Avenue killed a dog and torched a bedroom just after 1 a.m. Monday.
Fourteen firefighters from the Ogden Fire Department converged to put out the flames within 30 minutes, but a dog in the home could not escape. The person in the house escaped without injury before firefighters arrived.
Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the blaze and determining the amount of damage caused, though they expect the home to be saved.
The American Red Cross was immediately dispatched to the scene to provide lodging for the person temporarily displaced.
More details will be posted as they become available.
