Joan Hadley Schultz of West Haven celebrated her 80th birthday with a celebration in Hooper on Feb. 8.

She was born on Feb. 4, 1934, in Marriot-Slaterville to Alonzo and Iretta Butler Hadley. The 10th of 11 children raised in Kanesville, she has spent most of her life living in Kanesville/West Haven. She made being a mother, homemaker and grandmother her life’s work.

She married Ronald W. Schultz on May 14, 1953, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple. He died on Jan. 14, 2009.

She enjoyed singing and traveling with the 4 R’s Quartet as they performed for more than 48 years. She has enjoyed being a neighborhood Avon lady for 30 years.

She is an active member of the LDS Church.

Her children and their spouses are Neil and Debra Schultz, Hooper; Lynn and Jana Schultz, West Haven; Chris and Kathy Schultz, Richmond; Sheri and Aaron Baugh, West Jordan; Jeff and Tiffany Schultz, Thatcher; and Gina and Robert Harper, Layton. She has 28 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
