Gary and Carolyn Hales celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family and friends at an open house hosted by their children on Feb. 22.
They were married Feb. 11, 1952, in Warren. Their vows were later solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ogden Temple.
Both attended Weber County schools, graduating from Weber High School. With the exception of living their first year of marriage in Grandview, Idaho, they have lived in Warren.
He worked for Bona Vista water for 43 years and retired as general manager in September 2003. He also owned and operated Hales Roofing for 25 years. His interests are attending sports events, watching grandchildren and great-grandchildren perform, family outings and golf. He has served in the Warren/West Warren Cemetery Board for 40 years.
She is a wife, mother and homemaker. Her interests are family, handiwork, quilting and scrapbooking. After her children were older, she worked at Plain City Elementary School and Kellerstrass Oil. She has volunteered at McKay-Dee Hospital for 15 years. She is a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
They are active members of the LDS Church and have served in various callings throughout their lives.
Their children and their spouses are Terry Hales, Jeff and Cathy Hales, Chad and Sheryl Costley, Brenda Hales, Greg and Kim Hales, and Dave and Heidi Wade. They have 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
