Richard L. Farr of Roy will celebrate his 90th birthday. Family and friends are welcome to attend an open house in his honor from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, at the Roy 7th Ward building, 4900 S. 2000 West, Roy. No gifts.
He was born in Ogden on March 1, 1924, to Lawrence and Alice Drake Farr. He attended Ogden schools, graduating from Ogden High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was later employed at Defense Depot Ogden. He has also worked for the Big Nickel and the Standard-Examiner.
He married Carol Jean Hancock on Sept. 15, 1950. Their vows were later solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple. She died in July 2010. He is a member of the Roy 7th Ward.
He has enjoyed snow skiing, snowmobiling, water skiing, boating, jet skiing, vacations with his grandchildren, and especially spending time with his great-grandchildren.
His children are Pamela and Michael Hennessy, and Denis and Pat Farr. He has eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
