“Elder Dakota Adams has inspired me for years since I first met him when he was three years old, he has been a role model to me,” says Ted Hallisey and plans on using Dakota as a partner in is newest project, which can be found on Facebook, Saints N Spurs. President Fenn, Elder Adams’ Mission President, says Elder Adams is a “Tremendous missionary and I am grateful for him.”
So who is Elder Dakota West Adams? He is the son of Scott and Lori Adams from Bear River, Utah. He will be speaking at Bear River 2nd Ward on March 23, 2014 at
1 p.m. Dakota graduated from Bear River High School in 2011 and had the opportunity to participate in the building of the Brigham City Temple. His Superintendent, Shaun Boydston says “Dakota was an inspiration to the crew and lifted everyone’s attitude on the job site.”
Dakota put his mission papers in exactly 120 days before his 19th birthday which was as soon as he was allowed to. In November of 2011 he received his call to Illinois Chicago Mission. A few days before his departure his mission was changed to Spanish speaking. About a year ago when they split several of the missions, Elder Adams mission was then changed to Illinois Chicago West Spanish speaking. During his service to the Lord he served in many capacities as a Trainer, District Leader and Zone Leader. This past Monday was his last time to email home and this was what Elder Adams had to say.
“Well time’s up!!! As of this Wednesday I will no longer be set apart as a full time missionary sharing the message of the restored gospel. This has been the most amazing experience of my whole life, there is not a greater thing that I could have done with my life. I thought that going on a mission, I would have to sacrifice lots of things but the truth is I have received more that I could ever give. There comes a time in your life when you have to find out who you really are and your purpose in life and I have seen that in my life and as well in the life of others. To tell a couple experiences I have seen people with some of the strongest most vicious addictions be freed, I have seen people that had no self worth come to know of their divine nature as a child of God. I have witnessed Satan attacking truth as it is taught doing everything he can do make people miserable. I have seen the happiest people I have ever known go through the hardest trials I have ever witnessed and know that there is a purpose for all of God’s children. I have seen people read the words of prophets and and say I want this in my life and change 180 degrees. I have seen the lost found. I have been guided by the Spirit to those who are thee elect of God. I have seen people enter into covenants that will let them enter into the presence of their Heavenly Father. I have seen disobedient people wake up and choose righteousness. I have felt the Holy Ghost speak through me and my companion. I have seen the gospel reach places it could never go through modern technology. I have seen families be reunited. I have witnessed a stake president change the way he does missionary work. I have seen keys of priesthood leaders be aligned. I have seen those I love fall and get back up! I have loved people I never even met before. I have comforted those who stand in need of comfort. I have witnessed people that were going to die be healed. I have seen people’s faith grow. I could go on and on but I believe that some of the greatest things I have seen in my mission is when people come to know for themselves that God loves His children so much He has given the fullness of the gospel in these latter days through the prophet Joseph Smith. I know that he is a prophet of God! I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the world and only through Him we can return to live with our Heavenly Father. I invite you to apply the gospel to your life and watch the miracles begin. My favorite scripture is 3 Nephi 5:13, ‘Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life.”Elder Adams
