Lawrence E. Byington celebrated his 90th birthday on March 22, 2014 with an open house in Clinton. He was born on March 19, 1924. He attended school in Hooper, Utah. He married Barbara Evans in the Salt Lake Temple on September 7, 1945. They had three children, Steven (Doreen) Byington, Darlene (Tomas) Boyd, and Pat (Scott) Holladay; ten grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

He served in the CC Camp when he was 16 years old. He joined the Marines at age 17 and served in the Second World War, and later joined the Air Force Reserves where he served at Hill Air Force Base for many years. He was employed at the Utah Oceanographic Distribution Center (Navy Base). He was a member of the Sunset Fire Department for 29 years, his last few years before he retired as Assistant Fire Chief. He loved the fire department and made many friends there. He loves all kinds of sports, especially the Utah Jazz. He loves life and talking to people wherever he goes. He served two Stake Missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
