Bear River 8, Stansbury 7: At Garland, Hayden Smoot hit a walk-off RBI single to score Kelton Christensen and lead Bear River to an 8-7 victory over Stansbury Friday.

Bear River scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning after Stansbury scored two in the top half to take the lead.

“Kind of like a backyard brawl a little bit,” Bear River coach Donald Hawes said. “Both teams throwing counterpunches. Luckily for us, we were the home team and had the last at bat and came up with a big hit.”

Christensen knocked an RBI double in his only at-bat of the game to tie the game for the Bears in the seventh.

Bear River jumped ahead 6-0 in the second inning, but Stansbury scored four in the fourth and one in the fifth to pull within a run.

Box Elder 8, Logan 3: At Brigham City, DJ Larsen pitched five innings to lead Box Elder to an 8-3 win over Logan Friday.

Box Elder pitchers scattered seven hits.

“He’s very inexperienced as a varsity pitcher still, but he pitched a solid game,” Box Elder coach Brent Hubbard said.

Box Elder produced 12 hits with each member of the starting lineup collecting at least one.

Mountain Crest 7, Ogden 3: At Hyrum, Ty Hall went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and four RBI, Jack Godfrey went 2-for-3 with a triple and a double and Mountain Crest defeated Ogden 7-3 Friday.

Trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth, Mountain Crest scored four runs. The Mustangs added an insurance run in the sixth.

Bonneville 2, Sky View 1 (8): At Washington Terrace, Kacey Cundick hit a walk-off single to right field to score Parker hall in the bottom of the eighth and send Bonneville past Sky View 2-1 Friday.

Hall batted in Bonneville’s other run.

Mitch Westmoreland pitched eight innings for Bonneville, allowing just four hits and walking two while striking out five.
