PREP BASEBALL: Fremont tops Northridge; full roundup

FREMONT 5, NORTHRIDGE 2: At Layton, Garrett Himelright went 3-for-5, Taylor Kranendonk pitched seven innings of five-hit ball and Fremont defeated Northridge 5-2 Wednesday.

Fremont broke a scoreless tie with a run in the top of the fourth and added three more in the fifth. The Silver Wolves added their final run in the seventh.

Northridge scored both of its runs in the bottom of the seventh.

After winning four straight games to start Region 1 play, Northridge has now lost seven straight.

VIEWMONT 5, SYRACUSE 2: At Syracuse, Viewmont guaranteed its first series victory of the season Wednesday with a 5-2 defeat over Syracuse.

“Viewmont is playing better,” Syracuse coach Justin Nakaishi said. “We keep making a lot of the same mistakes.”

MOUNTAIN CREST 13, OGDEN 0: At Ogden, Mountain Crest defeated Ogden 13-0 Wednesday in a game resumed from Tuesday. The game was suspended with two outs in the bottom of the fourth at Mountain Crest Tuesday.



Mountain Crest scored three in the first, two in the second, three in the third and five in the fourth.

Nick Taylor hit a homer and a double while tallying three RBI for Mountain Crest. Ben Weese started the game Tuesday and pitched four innings. McKay Smith pitched the fifth inning Wednesday.

MOUNTAIN CREST 5, OGDEN 0: At Ogden, Jack Godfrey struck out 10, Luke Smith went 3-for-4 with a double, triple and two runs scored and Mountain Crest shut out Ogden 5-0 Wednesday.

WOODS CROSS 6, HIGHLAND 4: At Salt Lake City, Caden Brown hit a homer, James Nelson tripled and Woods Cross escaped Highland 6-4 Wednesday.

Highland loaded the bases twice with one out but failed to push across a run each time.

“We survived today,” Woods Cross coach Paul Ayala said.

CLEARFIELD 17, JUDGE MEMORIAL 12: At Salt Lake City, Parker Oliver pitched four-plus innings in relief and hit a three-run homer at the plate to help Clearfield overcome an early 7-0 deficit and defeat Judge Memorial 17-12 Wednesday.

Oliver entered the game in the second inning.

Clearfield trailed 7-0 after the first two innings before scoring three in the third and five in the fourth. Clearfield then doubled its run total with eight more in the fifth.

BONNEVILLE AT SKY VIEW (PPD): At Smithfield, the game between Bonneville and Sky View Wednesday was delayed due to poor field conditions. The game will be made up today at 3:30 p.m.

LAYTON AT WEBER (PPD): At Pleasant View, the game between Layton and Weber Wednesday was delayed due to poor field conditions. The game will be made up today at 3:30 p.m.
