Women killed in St. George crash identified

ST. GEORGE -- St. George police have identified two women killed in a crash with a Utah Highway Patrol trooper.

Police say 75-year-old Ila Jean Moore and 71-year-old Karen Gummow died in the Wednesday crash. The trooper was seriously injured.

A bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints says the women were sisters arriving at the church stake center. He says they lived together.

The crash occurred as the trooper was headed to help with a series of crashes on Interstate 15. The trooper was using lights and sirens.

The trooper was upgraded to good condition by Wednesday evening.
