Police seek driver involved in hit-and-run

SYRACUSE -- Police here continue to search for a driver involved in the hit-and-run of a young bicyclist Monday afternoon.

The driver of a green passenger-type vehicle struck a 10-year-old at the intersection of 1700 S. 2000 West, Syracuse Police Lt. Tracy Jensen said.

Police received a phone call from a concerned mother who stated her 10-year-old son was struck by a green vehicle while on his bike crossing the street, Jensen said.

"The child was knocked to the ground by the vehicle mirror, causing road rash and bruising," Jensen said in a prepared statement.

"The driver stopped to check on the child; however, both parted the scene before law enforcement was contacted or had arrived," he said.

Anyone who has any information as to the driver of this vehicle is encouraged to call Syracuse police at 801-825-4400.
