Vehicle involved in hit-and-run possibly found

TAYLORSVILLE — Authorities say they may have found a vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run accident that killed a 1-year-old Taylorsville girl.

Vicsayra Maribel Garcia was hit by a minivan making a U-turn while standing on the curb outside her home Friday.

Taylorsville police Detective Shannon Bennett says the vehicle is being investigated to determine whether it was involved. Bennett says a caller called police to say the van had been abandoned on the west side of Salt Lake City.

Neighbors and police have said the driver of the vehicle that hit Garcia is a Latina woman in her early 20s who drives through the neighborhood about every three days selling shaved ice, tamales and corn on the cob.
