HOOPER — A man accused in the shooting death of his brother during a camping trip near the Yuba Reservoir told police the incident was an accident, according to a probable cause statement.

SEATTLE -- A 3-year-old scrambled out of his child seat after his parents stopped for gas early Wednesday, found a gun police say was left in the car by his father and fatally shot himself in the head.

TAYLORSVILLE -- A 27-year-old Taylorsville man is facing charges after police say he tried to shoot a mouse in his pantry and ended up shooting his roommate.

BRIGHAM CITY -- A Brigham City duck hunter was shot in the buttocks after his dog stepped on a shotgun laid across the bow of a boat.

BANNING -- A Banning, Calif., woman accidentally shot her 12-year-old daughter after pulling the trigger of a miniature revolver she had mistaken for a novelty cigarette lighter, authorities said Thursday.

CLEARFIELD — Astrid Valdivia’s family now knows that Astrid was the second victim shot and killed outside a Walmart store in Port Orchard, Wash., on Sunday.

BOSTON -- As a former Massachusetts police chief heads to trial on manslaughter charges in the accidental shooting death of an 8-year-old boy at a gun fair, prosecutors and defense attorneys are wrangling over a horrific piece of evidence: a videotape of the shooting taken by the boy's father.

Former Pelham police Chief Edward Fleury is scheduled to go on trial next week in the 2008 death of Christopher Bizilj of Ashford, Conn. The boy was killed when he lost control of an Uzi at a gun fair and shot himself in the head.

Fleury's attorneys say the videotape is gruesome and is likely to elicit an emotional reaction from jurors and prejudice them against their client. They are asking the judge to keep the videotape out of the trial or, if not, then to bar prosecutors from playing the audio portion of the tape, which includes the father's anguished reaction to the death of his son.
