Troubled lives clashed in gruesome face-eating attack

MIAMI - Last weekend's horror-movie episode on the MacArthur Causeway in Miami brought together two troubled men, one who was struggling to get his life on track, another who had given up trying.

Rudy Eugene, 31, had been seeking spiritual guidance in Scripture. On May 24, two days before he would viciously attack a homeless man named Ronald Edward Poppo, Eugene attended a Bible-study session at a friend's North Miami Beach home.

Video provides new details in horrific face-eating attack

MIAMI -- Rudy Eugene walked naked alongside the MacArthur Causeway before pouncing on a homeless man he found dozing in the shade of the elevated Metromover train tracks.

For almost 18 grisly minutes, Eugene savaged his victim, punching him and stripping the man's pants before gnawing off the homeless man's face - all as cars and cyclists rolled by on the busy causeway on a sunny Saturday afternoon.
