Phone left in restroom triggers Delta bomb scare

DUBLIN -- A Delta Air Lines flight bound for the United States made an emergency landing Monday in Dublin because a passenger left a cell phone plugged into a socket in one of the aircraft's restrooms, police and aviation authorities said.

Judge orders psychiatric exam for JetBlue pilot

HOUSTON -- A federal judge in Texas has ordered the JetBlue Airways pilot accused of disrupting a Las Vegas-bound New York flight with rants about religion and terrorists to undergo a psychiatric exam.

Plane crash in Siberia kills 31

MOSCOW  -- A passenger plane crashed in Siberia shortly after taking off Monday morning, killing 31 of the 43 people on board, Russian emergency officials said. The 12 survivors were hospitalized in serious condition.

Friends baffled by JetBlue pilot's unraveling

RICHMOND HILL, Ga. -- No one recalls JetBlue Airways captain Clayton Osbon coming unhinged before. Not the airline that let him fly for 12 years, the neighbors in his secluded waterfront community or the friends he tried selling weight-loss shakes to on the side.

Now federal prosecutors have charged Osbon following his bizarre unraveling aboard Flight 191 to Las Vegas, describing in court records a midair breakdown they say began with cockpit ramblings about religion and ended with passengers wrestling him to the cabin floor.

Pilot’s meltdown puts spotlight on high-stress work environments

After a few workplace violence events in mail centers, "going postal" entered the lexicon.

This week, thanks to a widely shared newspaper headline about the in-flight meltdown of a JetBlue pilot, we got, "This is your captain freaking."

Though not particularly fair or nice, the shorthand descriptions of workplace outbursts are here to stay.

JetBlue captain restrained mid-flight after yelling about a bomb

AMARILLO, Texas -- A JetBlue flight bound for Las Vegas landed unexpectedly in Texas on Tuesday after the captain was taken ill, the airline said. A passenger said a man she and other passengers believed was the captain began yelling about a bomb and had to be restrained.

David Alan Anderson entered a guilty plea to a single count of possessing a dangerous weapon Thursday in Salt Lake City.

Guilty plea in Utah airplane knife smuggling case

SALT LAKE CITY -- A Utah man accused of smuggling a knife onto an airplane and threatening to kill police has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge in federal court.
