Eric Millerberg's attorney says client's wife had 'motive to lie'

OGDEN — Eric Millerberg’s attorney says the public has yet to hear the whole story of Alexis Rasmussen’s death.

“I am eager for the public to understand that everything Dea said on the stand isn’t necessarily true,” public defender Randall Marshall said in an interview after Eric Millerberg’s status conference Tuesday.

Dea Millerberg: Husband injected Rasmussen with meth before she died

OGDEN — Dea Millerberg took the stand Monday and described her husband twice injecting Alexis Rasmussen with methamphetamine just before watching her die.

The testimony came at Eric Millerberg’s preliminary hearing in 2nd District Court on charges in the Sept. 11 death of the 16-year-old Rasmussen.

Eric Millerberg is charged with child abuse homicide, obstruction of justice, unlawful sexual activity with a minor and abuse of a corpse.

Charges filed against couple in teen's death

OGDEN -- Alexis Rasmussen died of a drug overdose late Sept. 10 or early Sept. 11 in the home of Eric and Dea Millerberg where she was baby-sitting.

The overdose was not intentional, rather the reckless result of child abuse, Weber County Attorney Dee Smith said at a Tuesday afternoon news conference.

After a four-month investigation, Eric Millerberg was charged Tuesday with child abuse homicide and three other felonies in the death of the North Ogden teen.

 OGDEN — Eric Millerberg has been charged with child abuse homicide and three other felonies in the death of North Ogden teen Alexis Rasmussen.

Alexis Rasmussen was baby sitting at the North Ogden home of Eric and Dea Millerberg on Sept. 10, the night she was last seen.

OGDEN -- Handling three major cases at the same time is having an impact on the Weber County Attorney's Office. "We're maxed out," Weber County Attorney Dee Smith said of the drain of three major investigations under way simultaneously.

Attorneys 'negotiating' over charges against Dea Millerberg

OGDEN — The word “negotiation” was heard Wednesday for the first time in Dea Millerberg’s possible involvement in the death of Alexis Rasmussen.

The 16-year-old was baby-sitting at the North Ogden home of Eric and Dea Millerberg when she disappeared Sept. 10. Both Millerbergs were arrested on unrelated charges as the search for Rasmussen turned into a murder investigation, keyed on items seized from the Millerberg home as well as the impoundment of their two vehicles.

Rasmussen’s body was located Oct. 18 in a remote Morgan County location.
