Horse put down after hit by truck on Washington Blvd.

OGDEN — A loose horse from Harrisville caused a traffic accident in Ogden just after 10 p.m. Sunday.

An 8-year-old paint mare, due to foal next month, suffered fatal injuries and was put down soon after the accident.

Mountain lion killed after attack on Idaho boy

BOISE, Idaho -- A mountain lion was shot and killed after it attacked a 10-year-old boy after dark.

The boy was looking for a missing hunting dog in heavy sagebrush when he encountered the mountain lion about 8:30 Thursday night.

The 10-year-old boy was with his dad near their Mores Creek subdivision home 15 to 20 miles from Boise.

When the boy turned to run, the lion chased him. When the boy was on the ground, the lion caught up to him, and scratched the boy's arm and hand.

USU researchers examine animal car collisions on I-84

TWIN FALLS, Idaho -- A group of Idaho sportsmen and researchers from Utah State University are working to keep deer and other wildlife off of Interstate 84.

Jack Oyler, vice chairman of Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife-Idaho and a member of a state committee dedicated to reducing wildlife collisions, is heading a study to analyze herd migration patterns near a 10-mile stretch of I-84 near the Utah border.
