Joseph and Nancy Sapp of Kaysville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Wendover, Utah, where they claim they were gambling away their retirement checks and their grandchildrens' inheritance. They plan to celebrate with family and friends again in November on a cruise involving more gambling.
They were married on Aug. 27, 1960, in Columbus, Ohio. They moved to Utah in 1962 after being stationed at Hill Air Force Base. After his discharge from the U.S. Air Force, they decided to stay and make Utah their home.
They enjoy camping, traveling with family and friends, and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
She enjoys reading mystery novels and volunteers her time at Wasatch Elementary School, helping students learn to read.
He enjoys gardening and volunteers his time at the Utah State Botanical Center in Kaysville.
Their daughters and their husbands are Tammy Hayes, Trish and Mick Thueson, Christy and Paul Hopper, Rebecca and Larry McMurrin, and Rachael and Jeff Flinders.
They have seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
