Carol and Lee Andersen

Lee Griffin Andersen and Carol June Holmes of South Weber celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at The Melting Pot in Salt Lake City on Aug. 28.

They were married on Sept. 1, 1960, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple.

He was born on June 19, 1932, in Ogden. He served in the Great Lakes LDS Mission and in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Brigham Young University. He worked for 30 years as an educator and has held a variety of callings in the LDS Church, including bishop of the Sunset LDS 4th Ward. He enjoys growing a garden and sharing the produce with children.

She was born on July 22, 1938, in Pocatello, Idaho. She graduated from BYU, raised eight children and returned to teaching for 13 years. She has served in numerous callings in the LDS Church, including ward Relief Society president and stake Relief Society president. A seamstress, she has made many homemade items for her children.

Their children and their spouses are Cheri and Dave Scott, Denise and Dyke Roskelly, Steve Andersen, Marlene and Mike Hamilton, Kendall Andersen (deceased), Brian and Rachel Andersen, Cara and Jarod Yeagar, Emily and Nate Bird, and Kristin and Telly Longhurst.

They have 24 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren with one on the way,
