Ken and Marie Read of Roy celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Aug. 25. They recently returned from a trip back East and Nauvoo, Ill., which commemorated his 80th birthday and their anniversary. They also went out to dinner with some family members.
Married on Aug. 25, 1950, their vows were solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple in July 1963.
He was born to Frank and LaVon Read. He has served in various positions of the LDS Church. He is currently a Sunday School counselor and enjoys woodworking.
She was born in Declo, Idaho, to Lewis and Martha Newbold. She has also held various positions in the LDS Church. Her hobbies are cross stitching, reading, scrap booking and working in the yard.
Both currently do sealings in the Ogden LDS Temple on Tuesday mornings with a group in the stake.
They enjoy traveling to various places, cruises and trips to Tennessee. They have spent a few winters in Yuma, Ariz., in their motor home with friends in the Good Sam group.
They enjoy time with family, especially birthdays with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Their children and their spouses are Raelene and Rick Kendrick, South Centerville; Kenneth Read, Salt Lake City; Brenda and George Salyers, Tennessee; Kathy and Brad Sawyer, South Ogden; and Jeanie and Donnie Howell, Roy. They have 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren with two more on the way in September and October.
