Willard and Waltrud Cragun of Roy celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with dinner hosted by their family and close friends at the Timbermine Restaurant & Steak House on Jan. 8. Their children also plan to take them on a family vacation to Seaside, Ore.
Their journey together began in 1959 in Pirmasens, Germany, while he was in the U.S. Army. On Jan. 7, 1961, they were married in the Lutheran Church at Pirmasens. The ceremony was attended by her family and friends. They returned to Utah in 1962. His wife and children then stayed with his family while he completed his military service.
He worked as an Ogden police officer for 25 years, retiring in 1989. He was then employed at Defense Depot Ogden and Hill Air Force Base.
She was a homemaker for many years prior to working at Cutter Lab and Levolor for more than 20 years.
Both are active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have completed many callings.
Their children are Willard F. and Kelli Cragun, Sabine and Jim Parker, Steven Cragun, and Christine and Tom Sackett. They enjoy their 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
They also enjoy camping and spending time with their family.
