Michael and Kay Koldewyn Dykes of Roy will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Family and friends may attend an open house in their honor from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m on Tuesday, June 14 , at 5170 S. 3100 West, Roy.
They were born, raised and married in Ogden. They were married on April 14, 1961.
He began his career working for IBM, and retired from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where the first five years he was with the operations and maintenance department. Later he worked an additional 21 years in the physical facilities department. He worked in various states while at his job, and enjoyed working with church leaders and developing lasting friendships.
She was a homemaker for most of their marriage, later working other jobs, often with her family. She enjoyed crocheting afghans and baby items for her family.
Their five children and their spouses are Laurie Dykes, Jeffrey Dykes, Pam and Butch Mayo, Michelle and Kenny Edwards, and Liesl and Alan Elmer. They also have 25 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
