Ken and Sharon Sackett of Layton celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and a few close friends on Saturday, June 25, at the Layton Park.
They were married June 30, 1961, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple.
He was born in Ogden to Alma and Rachel Sackett. He graduated from Davis High in 1959 and served in the National Guard for nine years. He has been a member of the Utah State Fireman's Association for 46 years and a volunteer firefighter for the city of Layton for more than 32 years. He retired from his business, Ken's Parts and Equipment, in Syracuse and is currently employed at Hill Air Force Base.
Born in Salt Lake City, she is the daughter of Beatrice and Albert Schenck, and Noel Jacobsen. She graduated from Davis High School in 1961 and Hollywood Beauty School. She has been a member and also served as president of the Utah State Fireman's Ladies Auxiliary. She worked for ZCMI and is currently employed with Intermountain Healthcare, where she has worked for the past 27 years.
Both have enjoyed serving in various callings. They enjoy spending time with family and friends, camping and traveling.
Their children are Allison and Bruce Christensen, Kirk and Diana Sackett, Melissa and Karl Abbott, and Michelle and Travis Woodward. They have 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
