CarDell and Joan Mortensen

CarDell and Joan Mortensen of Morgan will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Feb. 3. They plan to have a family dinner at Larry's Spring Chicken Inn on Feb. 11 to commemorate the occasion.

They were married on Feb. 3, 1962, in the Morgan LDS Stake Center by Raymond Larsen. Their vows were later solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple.

Monan Anderson Lovell celebrated his 80th birthday with an open house at his home in West Point on Saturday, Feb. 4.

The youngest of five boys, he was born on Feb. 4, 1932, in Oak City to Norma Anderson and Owen Lovell. He is married to the former Dorothy Pollard. They have a combined family of 10 children, 29 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

Gertrude G. Raymond of Ogden celebrated her 99th birthday with an open house at the home of Kyle Andersen on Saturday, Feb. 4.

She grew up in Eden, a daughter of Alexander Ross Graham and Marie Jorgensen Graham. She is the youngest of nine children and graduated from Weber High School in 1931.

Verl Thompson of South Ogden celebrated his 85th birthday with his family at the Maddox Ranch House Restaurant.

He was born Jan. 30, 1927, in Clarkston to Ivan and Connie Griffin Thompson. He married Betty J. Blakeley on March 11, 1954, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple.

He worked for Swift and Co. and retired from Western General Dairy.

Mark Allen Nielsen of Roy celebrated his 80th birthday with a family gathering this past week.

He was born Feb. 10, 1932, in Hyrum to Albert and Esther Allen Nielsen. He graduated from South Cache High School, attended Utah State University for a year, and worked for a year in Texas for Gulf Research Co. He later served two years in the Army during the Korean conflict.

Jerald D. Watkins of Riverdale celebrated his 80th birthday in October with his sister Joyce Watson of Kennewick, Wash., on her birthday. His sister and her grandson: Sharon Conradt and Jacob Woodall, hosted a luau for the occasion. Family attended from Idaho and Georgia. He was also honored with a small family party on Jan. 18.

The youngest of four children, she was born on Feb. 7, 1932, in Roosevelt to Jonathan Dean and Imogene O'Neil Crapo.

Wayne E. and Carrie C. Rose of Warren celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary at a family dinner on Saturday, Jan. 28.

They were married on Jan. 28, 1942, in Malad, Idaho. Their vows were solemnized on Oct. 28, 2011, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple. They have lived in Warren for the 70 years of their marriage.

He was born Feb. 2, 1932, in Moorehead, Minn., to William A. and Nellie E. Loe. He married Jean Fisher and later divorced. After many years together, he married Pat Lazenby.
