Cut wiring sparked Holladay apartment fire

HOLLADAY -- Unified Fire Authority officials say a fire that displaced 20 to 30 people in a Holladay apartment complex started when electrical wiring was accidentally cut during construction work.

Roy apartment residents describe escape from blaze (video)

ROY — Residents of a 12-unit apartment building shed many tears Monday evening as they watched their homes go up in flames.

The two-alarm blaze at the Herfordshire Apartments, 4642 S. 1900 West, was reported by Roy Police Sgt. Danny Hammon as starting at 4:14 p.m.

 ROY — One tenant had time to grab two parakeets but nothing else, as fire swept through the Herfordshire Apartments, 4642 S. 1900 West.

An early Wednesday fire at Versailles Apartments in Ogden caused about $25,000 in damage and forced the evacuation of 24 units. All but the tenants of two apartments have been allowed to return. Bryce Thurgood is planning to replace the former Stimson's Market building on Main Street with a 120-unit apartment complex called Villas on Main.
