North Ogden offers swim party to recruit lifeguards

NORTH OGDEN -- The city is offering teens a free dip in the Ben Lomond pool and a crash course on lifeguarding to get summer recruits a little early this year.

This is the second year the staff from North Shore Aquatic Center has offered a Christmas party to gain new lifeguards.

Fundraiser aims to set basketball record

CLEARFIELD -- The Fallen Heroes Scholarship Foundation, a nonprofit organization, and Clearfield Aquatic Center have teamed up to raise money and potentially set a world record in the process.

On Dec. 26 through Dec. 30, at the aquatic center gym, a record attempt for the longest continuous basketball game will be staged. The game is set to begin around 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 26 and conclude around 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30.

Registration begins for special-needs swim program

CLEARFIELD -- The special-needs aquatics program at Clearfield Aquatic Center will be held on Fridays, beginning Aug. 5. The program is taught by a behavioral specialist who also maintains a water safety instructor certification to ensure ongoing quality intervention and skill development.

North Ogden Aquatic center joins record swim event

The North Shore Aquatic Center will participate in the “World’s Largest Swim Lesson” on June 14 at its pool on 245 E. 2550 North.

The lesson will be held in conjunction with hundreds throughout the United States to promote swimming safety, but will also be an attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Records. The event is free, but participants are asked to sign up and get more information at www.northshoreaquaticcenter.com.

CLEARFIELD — The Clearfield Aquatic Center is now scheduling for spring birthday parties.

Lifeguard classes starting soon

The North Shore Aquatics Center is encouraging those interested in lifeguarding at the pool this summer to get registered for the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Class that starts this January.

It costs $40 for the swim administration fee, due at time of registration, and $130 for the lifeguard course fee, due the first day of class. The classes run from Jan. 18 to Feb. 5 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at the Ben Lomond pool and the North Shore Aquatic Center. City pool starts recruiting staff

The North Shore Aquatic Center is recruiting staff members for next year by having a party from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ben Lomond High School pool, 800 Jackson Ave., Ogden.

Information will be available about hiring, certifications required to be a lifeguard and a timeline of classes offered. Those interested are invited to bring a swim suit and towel. For more information, call Tiffani Staheli at 801-737-0587 or e-mail northshoreguard@gmail.com.
