Total Recall: Arnold Schwarzenegger to publish new memoir

LOS ANGELES -- Former California governor, four-time Mr. Universe and big box-office draw Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to publish a memoir with Simon and Schuster, the publisher announced Thursday. The book is tentatively titled "Total Recall" -- and despite the double-entendre on one of his best films, "I'll Be Back" might be even more appropriate.

Secret offspring, especially of celebrities, face complex challenges

By many accounts, Essie Mae Washington had one overwhelming emotion when her mother took the 15-year-old to meet a circuit court judge and told her this unexpected truth: The judge -- Strom Thurmond, who went on to become governor of South Carolina and a U.S. senator -- was her father.

"Now that was a shock to the system," said Washington's daughter Wanda Terry, who lives in Columbia, S.C. "She felt it opened up a whole other life for her that she had to try and deal with."

Washington, who became Washington-Williams after marriage, is 85 and experiencing the early stages of dementia, according to her daughter. She didn't publicly claim Thurmond's paternity until after his death in 2003.

The revelation last week that former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger reportedly has a 14-year-old son with a housekeeper once again puts the spotlight on infidelity, hidden children and what the effects of secrecy are on those involved.

Schwarzenegger child report spurs media frenzy

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- The revelation that Arnold Schwarzenegger has an out-of-wedlock child with a former employee turned into a tabloid frenzy Wednesday, as scores of reporters and photographers swarmed a quiet suburban cul-de-sac in the middle of California farm country amid unconfirmed reports it was the home of the child's mother.

The woman was not at the Bakersfield home when the flash mob arrived, its satellite TV trucks filling her quiet Bakersfield street and spilling onto another one. The media descended after the woman's name surfaced in several Internet reports.
