TULSA, Okla. -- Those who know the family of Jake England, one of two suspects in the recent shooting of five black strangers here, say they don't believe race was a factor in the crimes.

Instead, they believe the 19-year-old snapped.

"It hasn't sunk in yet," Earron Willis, England's friend, said Monday. "I'm still trying to come to grips with it."

Willis has known England since he was a little boy. Willis' family's property backs up to the home where England lived with his family and where his father, Carl, lived before that.

LAYTON — A 26-year-old man has been charged with nine felonies in connection with the sexual abuse of a child between seven and 11 years ago.

Jason Thomas Hong was arrested Thursday and made his initial appearance in 2nd District Court on Friday afternoon. He conditionally waived his preliminary hearing and will be back in court April 2 for an arraignment hearing.

OGDEN — A Weber State University employee has been arrested by campus police on suspicion of stealing $600 to $700 from the Shepherd Union.

SYRACUSE — Police have arrested a 41-year-old Syracuse man on suspicion of four counts of aggravated sexual abuse and one count of child abuse.

ASPEN, Colo. -- Charlie Sheen's ex-wife, Brooke Mueller, says she'll fight Colorado assault and cocaine possession accusations with the goal of having the case dropped once the facts come to light.

Through a spokesman, Mueller says she is home in Los Angeles spending quiet time with her children. Longtime attorney Yale Galanter is in Aspen investigating the case and is defending Mueller.
