Man accused of urging fellow gangster to shoot at Clearfield party

CLEARFIELD — Police have arrested a third person they say was involved in a shooting that injured five people at a party in Clearfield in March.

Dwayne Ace Brown, 25, of Ogden, was booked into Davis County Jail on Wednesday on suspicion of five counts of aggravated assault, one count of discharging a firearm in the direction of a person or building and one count of riot.

Friends of Tulsa shooting suspect say race likely not factor

TULSA, Okla. -- Those who know the family of Jake England, one of two suspects in the recent shooting of five black strangers here, say they don't believe race was a factor in the crimes.

Instead, they believe the 19-year-old snapped.

"It hasn't sunk in yet," Earron Willis, England's friend, said Monday. "I'm still trying to come to grips with it."

Willis has known England since he was a little boy. Willis' family's property backs up to the home where England lived with his family and where his father, Carl, lived before that.

Ogden officer shoots at robbery suspect, is on paid leave

OGDEN — An Ogden police officer is on paid administrative leave after firing at a robbery suspect.

Police believe Noe Gonzalez, 20, was robbing someone who had been walking down the sidewalk on the 2200 block of Monroe Boulevard about 12:35 a.m. Thursday.

Officers arrived on the scene to see the suspect get into the passenger seat of a vehicle that took off, said Ogden Police Lt. Tony Fox.

Layton man faces charges of child sex abuse 11 years ago

LAYTON — A 26-year-old man has been charged with nine felonies in connection with the sexual abuse of a child between seven and 11 years ago.

Jason Thomas Hong was arrested Thursday and made his initial appearance in 2nd District Court on Friday afternoon. He conditionally waived his preliminary hearing and will be back in court April 2 for an arraignment hearing.

Suspect in Riverdale check fraud case arrested

RIVERDALE — After disappearing for a few days, a suspect in a check-passing case was found Saturday in the bed of a pickup truck.

Riverdale police arrested Joshua Michael Beckstead, 31, on suspicion of forging checks in Riverdale and surrounding cities, said Riverdale Police Lt. James Ebert.
